The Skinny Tea Review

15 October, 2013 by Giselle Rochford 2 Comments

The Skinny

The Tea:

Today’s tea came with the starter kit I picked up from David’s Tea over the weekend. The Skinny was recommended by a reader when I first started this series, so I was pretty excited to try it once I saw it was part of this collection. It’s an organic tea containing Chinese oolong and pu’erh teas, along with ginger, eleruthero root and orange peel.

The Preparation:

Use 1.25 tsp per cup and steep for 4 – 5 minutes in 94°C water.

The Smell:

Like the pu’erh ginger tea, the Skinny had a strange non-scent. It was a weird mix of grass, wet cave and nothingness but was somehow not completely unpleasant 😕 Not sure how David’s Tea accomplished it but hats off to them for making it work.

The Taste:

The ginger/orange combination in the Skinny was a hit for me. The earthiness of the pu’erh may actually be growing on me, because I liked the extra something that it added to the tea. The Skinny isn’t about to become my favourite tea of all time, but I won’t be adding it to my EWW pile just yet 😉

The Benefits:

The Skinny is great for stomach aches and according to some reading I’ve done, it’s also good for fighting off colds and other bugs. I’m thinking this is a good one to have in my cupboard since I tend to catch every illness during winter.

The Experience

I’ve been pretty tired and frazzled all day. Honestly, it’s been a struggle. I felt like I got nothing done this weekend ‘cuz of my mysterious Saturday illness, and I’ve been stressing about it all day. It was nice to finally get some relief from my stressful thoughts and just concentrate on enjoying my afternoon cup of tea 🙂

The consumption of some dietary supplements may also help prevent cancer. A number of essential vitamins, including vitamins A, C and E, act as antioxidants in the body. They work to neutralize chemicals called free radicals that cause oxidative damage within your cells.
