5 Things on my Life To-Do List

13 July, 2015 by Giselle Rochford 19 Comments

It’s been a while since I did one of my rambling, what’s going on with Giselle posts, and when I sat down to write last night, I figured it was time. But, for once, I’m not writing this half asleep or hopped up on caffeine in the middle of the night, so hopefully my thoughts will have a little more order than usual.

5 things on my life to do list via @ExSloth

1. Get a Job

Although I didn’t actually go to the ceremony, I officially graduated from university a month and a day ago. Since then, I’ve been enjoying the break from life, especially after being in school or working non stop for the last 5 years. But, I’m starting to go a little stir crazy, so it’s probably time to ramp up my job searching and find gainful employment soon. Look out world, I’m about to start adulting.

2. Find a place to live

I’ve been renting from a friend since May, but after August I’m going to be homeless once again. After packing up my belongings and moving 7 times in the last 4 years I’m definitely ready for some stability.  I want to feel comfortable about decorating my next place and actually buy furniture and bigger appliances without worrying about how I’m going to fit everything into two suitcases in 4 or 8 months. But first, I need that job I mentioned.

3. Workout more consistently

I think I mentioned last month that my workout schedule has been virtually non-existent for most of summer and I’ve been dying to fix that. Last week I made it to the gym twice, which is more than I can say for the month before that. I plan to go to the gym 4 or 5 times this week, and get back into the habit of tracking my progress with the million and fifteen fitness apps I’ve got on my phone.

4. Be a better blogger

For the last couple months I’ve been in a slump when it comes to blogging and a lot of that has to do with the fact that I’ve been in an all round life slump. This tends to happen to me when big changes are happening in my life, like graduating university, but I’m finally ready to buck up. My first order of business is to start planning, pre-writing and scheduling posts and social media updates again, and doing more to be a part of the blogging community.

5. Redesign/rebrand the blog

This is basically an extension of the ‘be a better blogger’ to do, since I’ve actually been working on a blog redesign on and off since the beginning of the year. The project stalled for a while since school and then moving got in the way but I think it’s time I got it together on the design front. The rebranding is a newer undertaking, and is another big reason for the slow redesign process, since some things had to change as I figured out the new direction I wanted ExSloth to go. I think I’ve finally decided against a rename, but new topics and conversations are going to start popping up around here and the new design and brand needs to be conducive to that.

Congratulations on graduating! Job hunting is something I can relate to, as I’ve finally decided I’m ready to look for something within my field instead of staying in a job I don’t love. Good luck to the both of us! Let’s crush it.
