5 Things from my impromptu Blog Hiatus

13 September, 2014 by Giselle Rochford 11 Comments

Hey Friends! How’s it goin?

It feels like an age since I sat down for some uninterrupted blogging time. The last 2 or 3 weeks have probably been the busiest of my life and there was barely any time left over for blogging. Case in point: It’s Saturday and I’m doing a Friday Five post 😳

Anyway, if you read my  thinking/ranting out loud post from late last month, this is gonna be an update on that. So here goes:

5 Things I’ve Accomplished Recently

1. I’m no longer homeless

I lived on a friend’s couch for more than a week in between moving out of my old place and finding a new place to live. I had a lot of fun living there cuz her house is board game central (any Dominion players out there?) but I’m pretty happy that I was able to move out before school started.

My room is still a giant mess, but the kitchen is in order! It isn’t anywhere near magazine worthy, but I can already tell it’s gonna serve me well πŸ˜€

2. I’m cooking and eating well again

I mentioned in August that my eating habits had become horrendous and unfortunately that didn’t change until recently. I prepped the eff outta my meals on Monday and I’ve been eating like a (healthy) queen ever since.

Get a load of this pizza I made on a whim on Wednesday. Not bad for a first attempt, if I do say so myself. And yep, I put ketchup and mustard on my pizza- it’s a Trini thing.

3. I got a new laptop

Do you hear the angels singing?!? I finally bit the bullet and got a new laptop during the last week of August. It’s so freeing to be able to use the computer without fear of the blue screen of death!

 My new Mac

4. I finally made it to the Farmers’ Market

This has been a goal of mine for about two years and I think it’s safe to say I’ve procrastinated enough 😳

I didn’t end up buying a whole lot but here are a couple of my favourites from my mini-haul:

Apple butter and french lentil fusilli

5. I’m back in the gym

I’d been skipping the gym due to moving days and apartment viewings but I was extra frustrated about my homelessness one day and I knew an intense workout was exactly what I needed. So I made time for one and I’m so glad I did. I actually found a place the next morning!

My new place is about 2 blocks from the gym so I made it 4 out of 5 mornings this week as well.

Side note: I’m definitely gonna stick to morning workouts cuz they’re da bomb. I don’t have to wait on machines, dodge sweaty bodies or deal with people hovering while I finish my sets. Sounds like workout bliss to me πŸ˜‰

What about you?

What have you been up to recently? Any major/minor life accomplishments were ticked off your list?

Weird to think of myself as an inspiration in terms of productivity lol. I usually think I’m the most unproductive person ever haha; so thanks! πŸ˜€

Dang, girl! You’ve been busy! I’m so jealous of the new laptop- mine won’t hold a charge. So I always have to use my home computer (which is a Mac- so I can’t really complain). πŸ˜‰ Have a great weekend!

Laptop issues are the worst right?!? How you’re able to figure that situation out soon but at least you’ve got the home computer! πŸ˜€

Working out in the morning is the way to go! I do a boot camp class at 5:30 and it allows me to have so much more time during the day that I would have “wasted” at the gym.

The first week I ended up taking naps during the day cuz I wasn’t used to being active from so early in the morning, so I didn’t really save any of that ‘wasted’ time LOL
I’m definitely feeling like I have more free time now that I’m used to it though!
