Hey There!
How’s it goin?
It’s definitely shaping up to be a double dose of caffeine kind of day over here! Thank goodness the week’s almost over 😉
But anyway, onto the motivation!
We’ve all been guilty of giving up on something before even giving it a try because we were afraid to fail. It’s instinctive for people to run from the slightest chance of failure.
A frequently used excuse for not eating healthy or working out is:
“I’ll never be able to do that so why bother?”
And you know what? With that attitude, you’re absolutely right. You’ll never be able to do anything if you don’t TRY.
Sure failing at something sucks, but it’s part of the learning process. If we got everything the first time we gave it a try, we’d all be insufferable know-it-alls and where’s the fun in that? So, really we’re doing the world a favour by failing at somethin 😉
“You may be disappointed if you fail, but you’re doomed if you don’t TRY!”
But seriously, if you want to make the lifestyle change and get active, healthy & fit, you’re gonna have to take the good with the bad and accept that you might slip up, make mistakes or fail out right at some point. It’s a part of life.
You just can’t let a fear of failure stop you before you try.
What about you?
How do you manage the fear of failure?
I’m pretty fearless in most aspects of life, but when it comes to health & fitness I have a pretty big fear of failure. When I get to the point that my fears are stopping me from doing something I wish I could, I give my self a pep talk that’s full of motivational quotes like this one and eventually convince myself that I’ve got nothing to lose by just getting out there and giving it a TRY!

I loved this! “If we got everything the first time we gave it a try, we’d all be insufferable know-it-alls and where’s the fun in that?”
I also think that if we got everything the first time we gave it a try, we wouldn’t build character as much. It would make it so that we would have very low frustration tolerance, making it even harder to persevere when things got tough! So thanks for this reminder. This post is very encouraging!

Thanks Ashleigh! And you’re so right. I’ve always believed that failure is an important part of life cuz it teaches us so many things about ourselves and how we handle disappointment. Glad you feel the same 😀
